PREPRATION TIME:
- PREP TIME: 20 mins
- COOK TIME: 10 mins
- RESTING TIME: 45 mins
- TOTAL TIME: 1 hrs 15 mins
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 kg plain flour
- 30 grams fresh yeast
- 1 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- One tablespoon fennel seeds
DIRECTIONS:
- Mix yeast with some warm water and let dissolve.
- Combine all other ingredients in a large bowl then add the yeast mixture.
- Add enough water to make a soft dough but not sticky .
- Knead for five minutes and allow to rest for one hour while covered .
- Turn onto a board or bench and make bagels as in the photos , allow to rest for another 45 minutes.
- Place on tray and bake at 190c until slightly golden but not fully cooked .
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes then slice in half with a small serrated knife.
- Place in oven again until golden and crunchy.
