Whether you’re on the side of cold (ice cream or cream) or warm (custard), we can all agree that crumble is a winter winner! Using an air fryer allows you to cook it more efficiently with minimal mess and helps create an extra crisp crumble crust, too.
PREPRATION TIME:

- Course: Dessert
- Prepare: 30 mins
- Cook: 1 hr
- Total time: 1 hr 30 mins
INGREDIENTS:
- 1kg Bramley apples (about 4-6), peeled, cored and cut into 2cm chunks
- 200g blackberries
- 50g caster sugar
- ½ lemon, zest and juice
- vanilla ice cream, custard or double cream, to server
Crumble
- 150g plain flour
- 100g chilled unsalted butter, cubed
- 75g caster sugar
- 50g porridge oats
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
METHOD:
-
First, make the crumble. In a medium bowl, use your fingertips to gently rub all the ingredients together until evenly combined (you’ll have mostly small chunks with a few larger ones) and put in the fridge. .
-
Put the apple chunks and blackberries in the base of the air-fryer basket (without the rack). Toss through the sugar, lemon zest and juice, and 2 tbsp water with a pinch of salt; spread out evenly.
-
Scrunch the chilled crumble mix together then loosely scatter over the fruit to cover (this will help give you different-sized crumble pieces). Air-fry at 180ÂşC for 1 hour, covering with foil after 25 minutes if needed, until golden and well cooked and the fruit is very tender and piping hot. Serve immediately with ice cream, custard or cream.
