Posted by

This quick potato recipe is perfect when you want something fast, tasty, and low-cost. With only a few basic ingredients, simple potatoes turn into crispy, golden bites. You can enjoy this dish for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even as a late-night snack. Everything is cooked in one pan, making cleanup easy. The potatoes become crispy on the outside while staying soft and fluffy inside.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Fresh herbs

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes

  • Wash the potatoes properly to remove dirt.
  • Peel them if you want, or leave the skin on for extra texture and quicker prep.
  • Cut the potatoes into small, equal-sized cubes.
  • Smaller pieces cook faster and become more crispy.

Step 2: Heat the Pan

  • Place a large pan on medium heat.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter.
  • Let the oil heat until it looks shiny. This helps the potatoes crisp as soon as they touch the pan.

Step 3: Cook the Potatoes

  • Add the potato cubes to the hot pan.
  • Spread them in a single layer so they cook evenly.
  • Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • The potatoes should be:
    • Crispy and golden on the outside
    • Soft and fluffy on the inside

Step 4: Season the Potatoes

  • When the potatoes are nearly done, add:
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Garlic powder
    • Paprika
  • Mix well so every piece is coated with seasoning.
  • Cook for another 1–2 minutes to bring out the flavor of the spices.

Step 5: Add Herbs & Serve

  • Turn off the heat.
  • Add chopped fresh herbs if using.
  • Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

How to Serve

  • With fried or scrambled eggs
  • Alongside grilled chicken or steak
  • In burgers or sandwiches
  • With rice bowls or wraps
  • As a snack with ketchup, garlic mayo, or chili sauce

Notes

  • Cut the potatoes the same size for even cooking.
  • Cook on medium heat to prevent burning.
  • You can mix butter and oil for extra crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan, or the potatoes will steam instead of fry.
  • Add fresh herbs at the end to keep their flavor fresh.
